Compliment a Deputy

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office values positive feedback and takes pride in recognizing the professionalism, dedication, and outstanding service of our deputies and staff. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of law enforcement and building strong community relationships based on mutual respect and trust.

We encourage citizens to share their positive experiences or commend a deputy or employee whose conduct exemplifies the mission and values of the Sheriff’s Office.

All compliments are reviewed and shared with the employee and their chain of command. When appropriate, commendations may become part of the employee’s official record and may contribute to recognition or awards.

How to Submit a Compliment

If you would like to commend a deputy or employee for exceptional service, you may submit your commendation in one of the following ways:

In Person: During regular business hours, you may visit the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office located at 223 N. Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC. Please ask to speak with a supervisor or representative from the Office of Professional Standards. Staff will assist you in completing the appropriate form.
By Phone: You may also call the Office of Professional Standards at 843-719-4966 to speak with someone who can help you submit your commendation.
By Mail:

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing quality law enforcement performance and effective community relations based upon trust. We welcome commendations of Sheriff’s Office personnel who admirably perform their duties.

We encourage our deputies and employees to be “service oriented.” Therefore, there is no greater recognition for them than to be complimented for their excellent service by a citizen.

Commendations can range from a citizen’s letter to a service medal. When providing commendation information in letter form please describe the events or incident along with the officer(s)/employee’s name(s). Let us know why they impressed you or assisted you. What action did they take that made the difference? Depending on the circumstances surrounding the events or incident the employee’s action will be considered and evaluated when deciding what level of recognition they will receive. In all cases the employee and their supervisor will be notified regarding the commendation received. The Sheriff will also receive the information and it will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.
