Major Michael Crumley has served as a law enforcement officer since 1998 and has been employed with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office since 2006.
Major Crumley is a 2012 graduate of the federal National Center for Credibility Assessment at Fort Jackson, SC, and is a licensed polygraph examiner.
Before assuming command of the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, he commanded the Special Operations Division and the Criminal Investigations Division. Major Crumley also served in the Office of Professional Standards, the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Criminal Investigations Unit, and the Uniform Patrol Division.
He was also a Task Force Officer in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration from 2010 to 2012.
Major Crumley earned a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University in 2005.
Before his law enforcement career, Major Crumley was a firefighter and fire investigator with the Ashley River Fire Department and a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
