Captain Michael Crumley has served as a law enforcement officer since 1998 and has been employed with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office since 2006.

Capt. Crumley is a 2012 graduate of the federal National Center for Credibility Assessment at Fort Jackson, SC, and is a licensed polygraph examiner.

Prior to assuming command of the Special Operations Division, he commanded the Criminal Investigations Division. Capt. Crumley also served in the Office of Professional Standards, the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Criminal Investigations Unit, and Uniform Patrol Division.

He was also a Task Force Officer in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration from 2010 to 2012.

Capt. Crumley earned a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University in 2005.

Prior to his law enforcement career, Capt. Crumley was a firefighter and fire investigator with the Ashley River Fire Department and a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
