Inspector Dan Isgett serves as the Commander of the Office of Professional Standards.
The Office of Professional Standards includes National (CALEA) and State Accreditation, Internal Affairs, Recruitment and Selection, Grants Administration, Planning and Organizational Development, and Emergency Operations.
Inspector Isgett began his career in 1985 with the North Charleston Police Department where he served as a patrolman.
In 1987, he was hired at the Charleston County Police Department, which merged with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in 1991.
He left the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in July 2015 after 27 years to join Sheriff Duane Lewis at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
During his career, Inspector Isgett served as a patrolman, a major crimes investigator, a supervisor assigned to Criminal Investigations, Judgments and Executions, Uniform Patrol, Narcotics and Vice, Family Court, Accreditation, and Community Services.
He served as the Accreditation Manager from 2001- 2008. Inspector Isgett has been a Certified Assessor for CALEA, The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, since 2006 and a South Carolina Police Accreditation Coalition Assessor since 2004.
He earned an Associate in Business in 1987 from Trident Technical College and currently sits on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Trident Technical College.
Inspector Isgett has served as the President of the Tri-County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 for ten years and served on the State Fraternal Order of Police Board as 2nd Vice President and Treasurer.
Inspector Isgett is also a member of the Exchange Club of Charleston, volunteering his time to assist non-profit organizations in the Tri-County. Inspector Isgett resides in Goose Creek, SC with his wife and children.
