Captain Christopher Dirks, a Moncks Corner native and a 2004 graduate of Berkeley High School, has dedicated his career to law enforcement with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

He began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 2009, initially working in the Uniform Patrol Division. He later moved to the Traffic Division focusing on aggressive driving enforcement under a South Carolina Department of Public Safety Grant for nearly two years. While there, he received the Golden DUI Enforcement Hero Award for the arrest of more than fifty impaired drivers in the year of 2011.

He transitioned his career path to the Drug Enforcement Unit, where he spent four years, before returning to the Uniform Patrol Division, where he rose through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant.

Captain Dirks subsequently managed the General Detective Unit under the Criminal Investigations Division before his current role as Captain of the Special Operations Division. 

He is married to his wife Danielle, and they have two children.
